beret

following a beret pattern from a sewing book, i attempted a beret from denim. i am not that pleased with the results, because even though i measured, it is too big around the band and the top seems too small. it reminds me of the little leather kangol caps that the hip hoppers and r& b artists wore in the eighties. even though the style is simple and flattering, it is so dated now.

in the bag

searching the web i found sweet idea for a hat. this hat and bag i made out of a pair of denims i never did like ( they made my booty look funny ) the designer originally meant for hat and shorts, but i decided a purse would suit me better. i plan on rutching the purse and lining the hat...but haven't gotten around to it yet.

red delicious...

it's amazing how something simple can lighten your day. i have recently begun sewing again, and i am hopelessly in love with my sewing machine all over again.i search out complex, intriguing patterns and the easy, cute ones. i spend hours in fabric stores and watch demos online. i love it when i can see the ' bones ' of a item and know that i can MAKE THAT.
that is what happened when i saw a really cute patchwork pear pin cushion. i took one look at it and just knew that it would be interpreted through me as very different from the original. so here it is-' the craft's ' version of the pear pin cushion. i love its elegant lines and bold color! this little pin cushion inspired me to paint it!
go ahead, email me, i will make you one, too.
